I. O Império Babilônico

Nabucodonosor

1.1 Início do Ministério de Daniel, durante o reinado de Nabucodonosor

a) NABUCODONOSOR (rei de Babilônia) versus JEOAQUIM (18º rei de Judá)

2 Reis 23:36 Tinha Jeoaquim a idade de vinte e cinco anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. Sua mãe se chamava Zebida, e era filha de Pedaías, de Ruma. 37 Fez ele o que era mau perante o SENHOR, segundo tudo quanto fizeram seus pais. [BVN]

2 Reis 24

1 Nos dias de Jeoaquim, subiu Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, contra ele, e ele, por três anos, ficou seu servo; então se rebelou contra ele. 

2 Enviou o SENHOR contra Jeoaquim bandos de caldeus, e bandos de siros, e de moabitas e dos filhos de Amom; enviou-os contra Judá para o destruir, segundo a palavra que o SENHOR falara pelos profetas, seus servos. [BVN]

b) NABUCODONOSOR, então, PRENDE JEOAQUIM E LEVA PARA BABILÔNIA, ALGUNS DOS UTENSÍLIOS DO TEMPLO, BEM COMO ALGUNS JOVENS DE LINHAGEM REAL, DENTRE OS QUAIS, DANIEL - (cf 2 Cr 36:5-7; Dn 1:1-7):

5 Tinha Jeoaquim a idade de vinte e cinco anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. Fez ele o que era mau perante o SENHOR, seu Deus.

6 Subiu, pois, contra ele Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, e o amarrou com duas cadeias de bronze, para o levar a Babilônia.

7 Também alguns dos utensílios da casa do Senhor levou Nabucodonosor para a Babilônia, onde os pôs no seu templo. [BVN]

Daniel 1

1 No ano terceiro do reinado de Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, veio Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, a Jerusalém, e a sitiou.

2 O Senhor lhe entregou nas mãos a Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, e alguns dos utensílios da casa de Deus; a estes levou-os para a terra de Sinear, para a casa do seu deus, e os pôs na casa do tesouro do seu deus.

Daniel 1

3 Disse o rei a Aspenaz, chefe dos seus eunucos, que trouxesse alguns dos filhos de Israel, assim da linhagem real como dos nobres,

4 jovens sem nenhum defeito, de boa aparência, instruídos em toda a sabedoria, doutos em ciência, e versados no conhecimento, e que fossem competentes para assistirem no palácio do rei; e lhes ensinasse a cultura e a língua dos caldeus.

6 Entre eles se achavam, dos filhos de Judá, Daniel, Hananias, Misael e Azarias. [BVN]

II. O Império Persa

Ciro, o Grande

1.2 Fim do Ministério de Daniel, durante o reinado de Ciro, rei da Pérsia

Daniel 10:1 No terceiro ano de Ciro, rei da Pérsia, foi revelada uma palavra a Daniel, cujo nome se chama Beltessazar; a palavra era verdadeira, e envolvia grande conflito; ele entendeu a palavra, e teve a inteligência da visão.

PORTANTO, a Esfera de Ação do Ministério de Daniel, é: 

→ Desde Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, até Ciro, rei da Pérsia - (Dn 1:1-7,20; 10:1), ou seja, "Desde Nabucodonosor até Ciro, abrangendo um período de cerca de 73 anos, desde 607 até 534 a.C.", conforme o ensinamento de Myer Pearlman, em seu Livro "Através da Bíblia Livro por Livro". 

1:1 Sitiou. A destruição foi completada alguns anos mais tarde, no ano 586 a.C., nos reinados de Jeoaquim, Joaquim e Zedequias, 2 Rs 24:1-25:10. O sítio começou em 607 a.C.

1:2 O Senhor lhe entregou. Segundo foi profetizado por Jeremias, Jr 27:1-8. Alguns dos utensílios. Mais tarde foram todos.

1:3 Linhagem real. Daniel era um jovem de alta estirpe, um nobre.

1.7 A mudança dos nomes era uma tentativa de integrar os jovens cativos à religião pagã do seu novo ambiente social. Daniel quer dizer “Deus é meu juiz” e Beltessazar quer dizer “Príncipe de Bel” – Bel era equivalente a Baal e a Marduque. Misael quer dizer “Quem é como Deus”, e Mesaque é a alteração deste nome para “Quem é como Aku” (deus da lua). Hananias, “Jeová é misericordioso” altera-se para Sadraque, o “Amigo do rei”, e Azarias “Jeová é meu socorro”, para Abedenego ou “Servo de Nego” (o ídolo que representa Mercúrio).

Daniel era da tribo de Judá e provavelmente  membro da família real (1:3-6). Quando ainda muito jovem, foi levado cativo à Babilônia no 3º ano do rei Jeoiaquim (II Crôn. 36:4-7), e oito anos antes de Ezequiel. Juntamente com outros três jovens foi colocado na Corte de Nabucodonosor a fim de obter uma preparação especial na educação dos caldeus. Ali chegou a um dos postos mais elevados do reino, posição que reteve durante o governo persa, que se seguiu ao babilônico. Profetizou durante todo o cativeiro, sendo proferida a sua última profecia durante o reinado de Ciro, dois anos antes do regresso da nação à Palestina. Por causa da sua vida imaculada em meio da corrupção de uma Corte oriental, é um daqueles mencionados por Ezequiel como exemplos notáveis de piedade  (Ez. 14:14). O mesmo profeta dá testemunho de sua sabedoria (Ez. 28:3).

INTRODUÇÃO: Que este livro é realmente do profeta Daniel, e que é uma predição verídica do curso da história do mundo, está asseverado pelo Senhor Jesus Cristo em Mt 24:15. Dois conceitos que Jesus aplicou ao Seu Ministério e à sua obra acham-se neste livro: “Filho do Homem” e “Reino dos Céus”. Os primeiros seis capítulos descrevem as atividades de Daniel na sua vida contemporânea, e nos últimos seis, Daniel descreve suas próprias visões pelas quais Deus lhe revelou Seus planos para o futuro do mundo. Desde 2:4 até o fim do cap 7, o livro está escrito em aramaico, a língua internacional da época e é este o trecho que trata das nações gentias.

8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
9 Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
10 And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
11 Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
12 Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
13 Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
14 So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.
16 Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18 Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar .
19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.
21 And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.

8 E Daniel assentou no seu coração não se contaminar com a porção do manjar do rei, nem com o vinho que ele bebia; portanto, pediu ao chefe dos eunucos que lhe concedesse não se contaminar.
9 Ora, deu Deus a Daniel graça e misericórdia diante do chefe dos eunucos.
10 E disse o chefe dos eunucos a Daniel: Tenho medo do meu senhor, o rei, que determinou a vossa comida e a vossa bebida; por que veria ele os vossos rostos mais tristes do que os dos jovens que são vossos iguais? Assim, arriscareis a minha cabeça para com o rei.
11 Então, disse Daniel ao despenseiro a quem o chefe dos eunucos havia constituído sobre Daniel, Hananias, Misael e Azarias:
12 Experimenta, peço-te, os teus servos dez dias, fazendo que se nos dêem legumes a comer e água a beber.
13 Então, se veja diante de ti a nossa aparência e a aparência dos jovens que comem a porção do manjar do rei, e, conforme vires, te hajas com os teus servos.
14 E ele conveio nisso e os experimentou dez dias.
15 E, ao fim dos dez dias, pareceram os seus semblantes melhores; eles estavam mais gordos do que todos os jovens que comiam porção do manjar do rei.
16 Desta sorte, o despenseiro tirou a porção do manjar deles e o vinho que deviam beber e lhes dava legumes.
17 Ora, a esses quatro jovens Deus deu o conhecimento e a inteligência em todas as letras e sabedoria; mas a Daniel deu entendimento em toda visão e sonhos.
18 E, ao fim dos dias em que o rei tinha dito que os trouxessem, o chefe dos eunucos os trouxe diante de Nabucodonosor.
19 E o rei falou com eles; e entre todos eles não foram achados outros tais como Daniel, Hananias, Misael e Azarias; por isso, permaneceram diante do rei.
20 E em toda matéria de sabedoria e de inteligência, sobre que o rei lhes fez perguntas, os achou dez vezes mais doutos do que todos os magos ou astrólogos que havia em todo o seu reino.
21 E Daniel esteve até ao primeiro ano do rei Ciro.

Nabucodonosor

Rei da Babilônia que deu início ao Exílio de Judá. Nabucodonosor chegou ao poder durante o reinado de Jeoaquim em Jerusalém. Seu exército cercou e capturou a cidade e levou muitos judeus para a Babilônia. Joaquim e Zedequias governaram Judá sob controle de Nabucodonosor. Neste ínterim, vários judeus importantes o serviram na Babilônia. Daniel e seus amigos são os mais famosos.

Nabucodonosor é mencionado 90 vezes no Antigo Testamento. Ele ficou conhecido por sua atuação nas vidas de Sadraque, Mesaque e Abdenego, por seus sonhos, que Daniel interpretou, e por seu surto de loucura. Os profetas Jeremias, Ezequiel e Daniel escreveram sobre ele várias vezes. Ele reinou de 605 a 562 a.C.

Deus revela o sonho de Nabucodonosor e seu significado a Daniel

Daniel 2:1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.

Daniel 2:1 E no segundo ano do reinado de Nabucodonosor, teve Nabucodonosor uns sonhos; e o seu espírito se perturbou, e passou-se-lhe o seu sono. 

2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.
3 And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.
4 Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.
5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.
6 But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.
7 They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.
8 The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.
9 But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.
10 The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.
11 And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
12 For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
13 And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.
14 Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:
15 He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

2 E o rei mandou chamar os magos, e os astrólogos, e os encantadores, e os caldeus, para que declarassem ao rei qual tinha sido o seu sonho; e eles vieram e se apresentaram diante do rei.

7 Responderam segunda vez e disseram: Diga o rei o sonho a seus servos, e daremos a sua interpretação.
8 Respondeu o rei e disse: Percebo muito bem que vós quereis ganhar tempo; porque vedes que o que eu sonhei me tem escapado.
9 Por consequência, se me não fazeis saber o sonho, uma só sentença será a vossa; pois vós preparastes palavras mentirosas e perversas para as proferirdes na minha presença, até que se mude o tempo; portanto, dizei-me o sonho, para que eu entenda que me podeis dar a sua interpretação.
10 Responderam os caldeus na presença do rei e disseram: Não há ninguém sobre a terra que possa declarar a palavra ao rei; pois nenhum rei há, senhor ou dominador, que requeira coisa semelhante de algum mago, ou astrólogo, ou caldeu.
11 Porquanto a coisa que o rei requer é difícil, e ninguém há que a possa declarar diante do rei, senão os deuses, cuja morada não é com a carne.
12 Então, o rei muito se irou e enfureceu; e ordenou que matassem a todos os sábios de Babilônia.
13 E saiu o decreto segundo o qual deviam ser mortos os sábios; e buscaram Daniel e os seus companheiros, para que fossem mortos.
14 Então, Daniel falou avisada e prudentemente a Arioque, capitão da guarda do rei, que tinha saído para matar os sábios de Babilônia.
15 Respondeu e disse a Arioque, encarregado do rei: Por que se apressa tanto o mandado da parte do rei? Então, Arioque explicou o caso a Daniel.

46 Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.
47 The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

42 E, como os artelhos eram em parte de ferro e em parte de barro, assim por uma parte o reino será forte e por outra será frágil.
43 Quanto ao que viste do ferro misturado com barro de lodo, misturar-se-ão com semente humana, mas não se ligarão um ao outro, assim como o ferro se não mistura com o barro.
44 Mas, nos dias desses reis, o Deus do céu levantará um reino que não será jamais destruído; e esse reino não passará a outro povo; esmiuçará e consumirá todos esses reinos e será estabelecido para sempre.
45 Da maneira como viste que do monte foi cortada uma pedra, sem mãos, e ela esmiuçou o ferro, o cobre, o barro, a prata e o ouro, o Deus grande fez saber ao rei o que há de ser depois disso; e certo é o sonho, e fiel a sua interpretação.

46 Então, o rei Nabucodonosor caiu sobre o seu rosto, e adorou a Daniel, e ordenou que lhe fizessem oferta de manjares e perfumes suaves.
47 Respondeu o rei a Daniel e disse: Certamente, o vosso Deus é Deus dos deuses, e o Senhor dos reis, e o revelador dos segredos, pois pudeste revelar este segredo. 

2:17 Daniel, tendo falado ao oficial, ao rei e aos seus amigos, vai consultar ao Rei dos reis, o supremo amigo dos fiéis, v 18.

N. Hom. Quem se volta a Deus em oração, pedindo misericórdia e colocando seus problemas nas Suas mãos, humildemente prontificando a submeter-se à Sua vontade, logo terá motivos para bendizê-Lo, pois a oração é a porta aberta para os Céus, que nos dá visões consoladoras das coisas eternas, v 18-23. Assim Daniel obteve conhecimento do mistério que estava perturbando a cidade inteira (v 19); assim aprendeu a ser um recipiente da sabedoria divina (v 20); assim aprendeu a adorar a Deus com gratidão e louvor (v 23), entregando-se a este conhecimento de Deus que já é a vida eterna, pela obra de Jesus Cristo, Jo 17:14.

2:37 Tu, ó rei. Nabucodonosor, e o império da Babilônia do qual era a encarnação, era o primeiro dos poderes mundiais do sonho.

2.39 Outro reino. Dois braços de prata, o Império da Média e da Pérsia, simbolizado pelo urso de 7:5 e o carneiro de 8:3, das visões paralelas. Terceiro reino. Grécia, o reino de bronze, o leopardo de 7:6 e o bode de 8:5. Os gregos vestiam-se com armaduras de bronze.

2.40 O quarto reino. O império Romano, o quarto animal de 7:7,23.

2.44 Os dias destes reis. Nos tempos dos reinos humanos, Deus estabelece o reino dos Céus. Assim também o Credo Apostólico menciona a ocasião do sofrimento de Cristo “sob Pôncio Pilatos”, e Lucas toma grande cuidado em dar a data humana da vinda de Cristo, Lc 1:5; 2:2; 3:1 e 2. Deus suscitará. A vinda de Cristo é um ato de soberania divina, e nenhuma civilização humana poderia ter sido usada para produzir o Salvador.

2 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image whichNebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3 Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. 

Daniel 3

8 Ora, no mesmo instante, se chegaram alguns homens caldeus e acusaram os judeus.
9 E falaram e disseram ao rei Nabucodonosor: Ó rei, vive eternamente!
10 Tu, ó rei, fizeste um decreto, pelo qual todo homem que ouvisse o som da buzina, do pífaro, da harpa, da sambuca, do saltério, da gaita de foles e de toda sorte de música se prostraria e adoraria a estátua de ouro;
11 e qualquer que se não prostrasse e adorasse seria lançado dentro do forno de fogo ardente.
12 Há uns homens judeus, que tu constituíste sobre os negócios da província de Babilônia: Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego; esses homens, ó rei, não fizeram caso de ti; a teus deuses não servem, nem a estátua de ouro, que levantaste, adoraram.
13 Então, Nabucodonosor, com ira e furor, mandou chamar Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego. E trouxeram a esses homens perante o rei.
14 Falou Nabucodonosor e lhes disse: É de propósito, ó Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, que vós não servis a meus deuses nem adorais a estátua de ouro que levantei?
15 Agora, pois, se estais prontos, quando ouvirdes o som da buzina, do pífaro, da cítara, da harpa, do saltério, da gaita de foles e de toda sorte de música, para vos prostrardes e adorardes a estátua que fiz, bom é; mas, se a não adorardes, sereis lançados, na mesma hora, dentro do forno de fogo ardente; e quem é o Deus que vos poderá livrar das minhas mãos?
16 Responderam Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego e disseram ao rei Nabucodonosor: Não necessitamos de te responder sobre este negócio.
17 Eis que o nosso Deus, a quem nós servimos, é que nos pode livrar; ele nos livrará do forno de fogo ardente e da tua mão, ó rei.
18 E, se não, fica sabendo, ó rei, que não serviremos a teus deuses nem adoraremos a estátua de ouro que levantaste.
19 Então, Nabucodonosor se encheu de furor, e se mudou o aspecto do seu semblante contra Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego; falou e ordenou que o forno se aquecesse sete vezes mais do que se costumava aquecer.

24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
27 And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

20 E ordenou aos homens mais fortes que estavam no seu exército que atassem a Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, para os lançarem no forno de fogo ardente.
21 Então, aqueles homens foram atados com as suas capas, e seus calções, e seus chapéus, e suas vestes e foram lançados dentro do forno de fogo ardente.

26 Então, se chegou Nabucodonosor à porta do forno de fogo ardente; falou e disse: Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, servos do Deus Altíssimo, saí e vinde! Então, Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego saíram do meio do fogo.
27 E ajuntaram-se os sátrapas, e os prefeitos, e os presidentes, e os capitães do rei, contemplando estes homens, e viram que o fogo não tinha tido poder algum sobre os seus corpos; nem um só cabelo da sua cabeça se tinha queimado, nem as suas capas se mudaram, nem cheiro de fogo tinha passado sobre eles.
28 Falou Nabucodonosor e disse: Bendito seja o Deus de Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, que enviou o seu anjo e livrou os seus servos, que confiaram nele, pois não quiseram cumprir a palavra do rei, preferindo entregar os seus corpos, para que não servissem nem adorassem algum outro deus, senão o seu Deus.
29 Por mim, pois, é feito um decreto, pelo qual todo povo, nação e língua que disser blasfêmia contra o Deus de Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego seja despedaçado, e as suas casas sejam feitas um monturo; porquanto não há outro deus que possa livrar como este.
30 Então, o rei fez prosperar a Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, na província de Babilônia.

N. Hom. Este capítulo mostra-nos o orgulho pessoal do rei “cabeça de ouro” querendo ser glorificado, e esquecendo-se de que Deus rege a história: a fidelidade dos oficiais, que, sendo súditos leais ao rei, não podiam negar o Rei dos reis, adorando um ídolo; a firmeza da fé em Deus, pela qual os três homens resolvem obedecer a Deus até ao fim, sem exigir uma proteção sobrenatural, mas entregando tudo nas mãos d’Aquele que julga justamente, v 16-18. A proteção divina foi publicamente revelada, mediante a obra de alguém que era semelhante a um filho dos deuses, ou seja, o Redentor revelado “antes dos dias da sua carne (Hb 5:7) que os “salvou totalmente” (Hb 7:25) do fogo.

3:18. A verdadeira fé não depende de favores carnais, de proteção física – à Palavra de Deus obedece-se porque é a plenitude da alegria do crente, a comunhão com Deus, Sl 119:97-104.

3.26 Deus altíssimo. O imperador aprendeu a não falar mais em “deuses”., mas sim no único Deus Todo-Poderoso.

20 The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
21 Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:
22 It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.

19 Então, Daniel, cujo nome era Beltessazar, esteve atônito quase uma hora, e os seus pensamentos o turbavam; falou, pois, o rei e disse: Beltessazar, não te espante o sonho, nem a sua interpretação. 20 A árvore que viste, que cresceu e se fez forte, cuja altura chegava até ao céu, e que foi vista por toda a terra;

22 és tu, ó rei, que cresceste e te fizeste forte; a tua grandeza cresceu e chegou até ao céu, e o teu domínio, até à extremidade da terra.
23 E, quanto ao que viu o rei, um vigia, um santo, que descia do céu e que dizia: Cortai a árvore e destruí-a, mas o tronco, com as suas raízes, deixai na terra e, com cadeias de ferro e de bronze, na erva do campo; e seja molhado do orvalho do céu, e a sua porção seja com os animais do campo, até que passem sobre ele sete tempos,
24 esta é a interpretação, ó rei; e este é o decreto do Altíssimo, que virá sobre o rei, meu senhor:
25 serás tirado de entre os homens, e a tua morada será com os animais do campo, e te farão comer erva como os bois, e serás molhado do orvalho do céu; e passar-se-ão sete tempos por cima de ti, até que conheças que o Altíssimo tem domínio sobre o reino dos homens e o dá a quem quer.
26 E, quanto ao que foi dito, que deixassem o tronco com as raízes da árvore, o teu reino voltará para ti, depois que tiveres conhecido que o céu reina.
27 Portanto, ó rei, aceita o meu conselho e desfaze os teus pecados pela justiça e as tuas iniquidades, usando de misericórdia para com os pobres, e talvez se prolongue a tua tranquilidade. 

       

           

4:1. Este capítulo está na forma de um depoimento do próprio rei.

N. Hom. Este capítulo nos ensina que ninguém é tão poderoso que o orgulho lhe assente bem, pois o orgulho é a negação do direito de Deus de nos governar, é a adoração de si mesmo. Ninguém está fora do alcance do castigo de Deus, mas este castigo serve para nos restaurar à plenitude da vida e da piedade.

4:25 O rei será acometido de distúrbio mental que o fará fugir da vida humana e escolher a de um irracional – assim aquele que ficava bêbado com os louvores dos homens, também vai ser ensinado por Deus a ser racional e sábio nas coisas eternas, até compreender da Providência divina e o domínio de Deus.

Daniel 4

29 At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.
30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar , to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar : and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.
34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: 

Daniel 4

29 Ao cabo de doze meses, andando a passear sobre o palácio real de Babilônia,
30 falou o rei e disse: Não é esta a grande Babilônia que eu edifiquei para a casa real, com a força do meu poder e para glória da minha magnificência?
31 Ainda estava a palavra na boca do rei, quando caiu uma voz do céu: A ti se diz, ó rei Nabucodonosor: Passou de ti o reino.
32 E serás tirado dentre os homens, e a tua morada será com os animais do campo; far-te-ão comer erva como os bois, e passar-se-ão sete tempos sobre ti, até que conheças que o Altíssimo tem domínio sobre os reinos dos homens e os dá a quem quer.
33 Na mesma hora, se cumpriu a palavra sobre Nabucodonosor, e foi tirado dentre os homens e comia erva como os bois, e o seu corpo foi molhado do orvalho do céu, até que lhe cresceu pêlo, como as penas da águia, e as suas unhas, como as das aves.
34 Mas, ao fim daqueles dias, eu, Nabucodonosor, levantei os meus olhos ao céu, e tornou-me a vir o meu entendimento, e eu bendisse o Altíssimo, e louvei, e glorifiquei ao que vive para sempre, cujo domínio é um domínio sempiterno, e cujo reino é de geração em geração. 

       

           

N. Hom. A mensagem do sonho podia ter desviado a rei do seu caminho de soberba, pelo conselho do profeta (v 27), mas o seu grande orgulho (v 30) exigiu uma grande cura feita pelo Médico dos médicos (v 33), pois se alguém diz que a tortura teria sido cruel demais, então só Nabucodonosor é que tem o direito de se queixar, mas ei-lo dando glória à Deus, v. 37. Devemos estar prontos a ver no sofrimento a oportunidade de Deus nos guiar pela Sua mão até aos céus.

King Nebuchadnezzar had taken Jewish  captives back to  Babylon. Among them was a young man called Daniel who rose up to  be the chief of all the  King’s wise men. When  Daniel was older, King Nebuchadnezzar died and was succeeded by King Belshazzar.

O rei Nabucodonosor levou cativos os judeus para a Babilônia. Entre eles estava um jovem chamado Daniel, que tornou-se o chefe de todos os sábios do rei (Dn 2:48). Quando Daniel envelheceu, o rei Nabucodonosor morreu e foi sucedido pelo rei Belsazar.

16 And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
29 Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
30 In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

27 TEQUEL: Pesado foste na balança e foste achado em falta.
28 PERES: Dividido foi o teu reino e deu-se aos medos e aos persas.
29 Então, mandou Belsazar que vestissem Daniel de púrpura, e que lhe pusessem uma cadeia de ouro ao pescoço, e proclamassem a respeito dele que havia de ser o terceiro dominador do reino.
30 Naquela mesma noite, foi morto Belsazar, rei dos caldeus.
31 E Dario, o medo, ocupou o reino, na idade de sessenta e dois anos.

Belsazar

Um dos reis da Babilônia ao tempo de Daniel. Belsazar foi o rei que viu a mão escrever uma mensagem na parede, que Daniel interpretou como uma mensagem de Deus. Seu nome significa “Bel proteja o rei”.

5:22 Não te humilhaste. Tudo que foi descrito no cap. 4 fazia parte da obra de Deus em ensinar a humildade à família real, mas parece que esta virtude não é considerada pelos homens de poder.

5.23 As causas da mensagem de condenação: A profanação das coisas sagradas, empregando-as para a concupiscência da carne e para a idolatria. Comp. 1 Jo 2:15-16, 5:21.

Concupiscência, segundo o Dicionário Aurélio, significa: “concupiscência
[Do lat. tard. concupiscentia.] Substantivo feminino. 1.Desejo intenso de bens ou gozos materiais.(...) ”

5:25 Mene. “Está medido, avaliado”. Tequel. “Está pesado”. Parsim. “Divisões”,  “Persas”. Estas são as traduções ao pé da letra, destas palavras da língua dos caldeus, que o rei compreendeu assim que a letra foi lida. Agora Daniel vai proceder não à tradução, que não era necessária, mas, sim a interpretação.

5:28 Dividido. Significa ser tirado das mãos do rei, e ser entregue a um império duplo. Peres, é um singular de Parsim, que também quer dizer “Persas” cujo rei era Dario, da Média.

1. Nome de um rei, filho de Assuero, rei dos medos, Dn 5.31; 9.1. Quando tinha 62 anos subiu ao trono da Caléia depois da tomada de Babilônia por Ciro, e reinou cerca de um ano, 5.31, antes de Ciro, 6.28. Nomeou 120 sátrapas para governar o reino, 6.1, que eram subordinados a três presidentes, dos quais Daniel era um deles, 2.

Os presidentes e os sátrapas faziam parte da Corte de Dario, 6, e tinham autoridade para escrever a todos os povos, nações e línguas que habitavam em toda a terra, 25. Ele proclamou um decreto, mencionado em Dn 6.1-27, por cuja violação, Daniel foi lançado na cova dos leões. No primeiro ano de seu reinado, Daniel teve a visão das setenta semanas, 9.1-27. Provavelmente exercia a soberania do império ad ínterim, enquanto Ciro concluía as suas conquistas para assumir as rédeas do governo. Diz Josefo que era filho de Astíages, mais conhecido dos gregos por outro nome (Antig. 10.1,4). Talvez fosse ele o Ciaxares, filho e sucessor de Astíages e sogro e tio de Ciro (Xenof. Ciropede 1.5; 8.7, ou Ugbaru, governador de Gutium, província que parece ser da Média ocidental, ou suas vizinhanças que conduziu as tropas de Ciro para a tomada de Babilônia, na qual se deteve durante cerca de quatro meses até a chegada de Ciro. Uma inscrição cuneiforme dá este nome como sendo governador por ordem de Ciro.

6:5 Na lei do seu Deus. Procuravam um pretexto religioso.

N. Hom. O homem sendo cínico, se entrega às ambições de Satanás, “o acusador dos irmãos” (Ap. 12:10), que a própria virtude de sua vítima é considerada motivo justo para liquidá-la. Assim é que os fariseus fizeram com Jesus Cristo (Lc 20:19,20) e assim é que o pecado dominando a carne faz com a Lei de Deus (Rm 7:8-11). A mais angustiosa perseguição que o crente tem que enfrentar, é justamente o plano dos homens de fazer sua virtude entrar em choque com o ambiente.

6:24 Esmigalharam. Não haja dúvida de que os leões eram mesmo ferozes. Triste é a sorte da vítima da maledicência – muitíssimo pior é o castigo final dos falsos acusadores dos filhos de Deus.

       ANÁLISE

O livro de Daniel jamais deixou de despertar interesse e provocar controvérsias nos círculos teológicos. Ao mesmo tempo, tem cativado os seus leitores com os relatos de heroísmo num período de perigo crítico, e consolado multidões de fiéis seguidores de Deus, quando leem seus vibrantes relatos acerca da presença e da bênção do Senhor.

Os primeiros capítulos do livro de Daniel relatam certas experiências de jovens israelitas. Daniel e seus três amigos, que faziam parte do cativeiro judaico na Babilônia, no século VI a.C. O fato de se terem recusado a deixar-se seduzir pelo mundo pagão em que viviam, e a fraquejar diante dos perigos ameaçadores, por causa de sua fidelidade, fazem parte da essência do drama. Os seus livramentos – o de Daniel, da cova dos leões, e o de Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, da fornalha de fogo – demonstram o poder e o amor de Deus. Nabucodonosor, orgulhoso e seguro em seu despotismo, foi humilhado até o ponto orgulhoso e seguro em seu despotismo, foi humilhado até os dias presentes. O espantoso pecado de arrogância contra Deus, do qual Belsazar se tornou culpado, provoca morte e derrota certas. As seções de narrativa do livro, famosas entre as mais famosas da literatura, predem o nosso interesse não apenas por causa de seu drama, mas igualmente por causa de sua relevância, sempre que o materialismo e o paganismo ameaçam envolver os filhos de Deus.

As visões apresentadas no livro de Daniel, quer aos governantes pagãos quer ao próprio Daniel, são consideradas pelos estudiosos sinceros da Bíblia como uma previsão da história completa do mundo até os seus últimos dias. As profecias de quatro reinos e do quinto grande reino, o Reino de Deus, fornecem um quadro sobre a marcha do império. Quatro reinos surgiram, conforme fora predito, e o quinto aguarda o tempo de seu cumprimento, por ocasião da Segunda Vinda de nosso Senhor.

Os grandes temas da profecia em Daniel são assuntos de vital importância para a Igreja atual: a apostasia do povo de Deus; a revelação do homem do pecado; a tribulação, a Segunda Vinda, o Milênio e o Dia do Juízo. Quando abrimos o livro de Daniel, defrontamo-nos com uma interpretação da história que não apenas já teve seu cumprimento em sua maior parte, mas que, também, será totalmente cumprida. É essa certeza que torna o livro de Daniel vital e significativo para nossos próprios tempos.

  

       AUTOR

Historiamente, tanto o judaísmo como o cristianismo, têm recebido o livro de Daniel, no cânon, como uma obra genuína, do período do qual fala, do sexto século a.C., escrito por Daniel. A maioria dos eruditos modernos acredita que o livro de Daniel, conforme o possuímos é originário do tempo dos Macabeus, isto é, aproximadamente 165 a.C., de autor ou autores desconhecidos. Acreditam que a obra foi lançada a fim de fortalecer a fé que o povo tinha naqueles dias de perseguição, sob pseudônimo, quando o autor criou a imagem de que um suposto Daniel, um judeu do sexto século a.C., teria sido o seu autor. Porém, não há qualquer evidência na história de que os judeus tenham lançado, pseudonimamente, um livro que afirme ser revelação da parte de Deus, colocado séculos antes do tempo em que realmente foi lançado ao público. Na ausência de tal evidência histórica, não existe qualquer base científica para nos desviarmos da tradição judaico-cristã aceita, de uma data para o livro no sexto século a.C., e da autoria de Daniel.
